about me
Kayleen babel
I started dancing when I was 3 years old and have trained in ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, and pom.
My recent dance experience includes 4 seasons as a dancer for BIG3, performing at basketball games across the U.S. and abroad. Before that, I was a co-captain for the University of Houston Cougar Dolls Dance Team.
teaching experience
I’ve taught and choreographed at several studios and dance teams in the Houston area. I’ve taught a bit of (almost) everything, including ballet, pre-pointe, jazz, contemporary, pom, lyrical, and technique.
Why I’m so passionate about strength and conditioning
During my senior year in college, I tore my ACL and spent nearly a year being unable to dance as I recovered from surgery. Although I was devastated by the injury, it sparked my appreciation for strength and conditioning and safe dance training. I spent 9 months working with physical therapists and realized how beneficial cross-training can be for dancers. It made me wonder why dancers are rarely exposed to strength and conditioning if it has so many benefits!
This led me to try out tons of new training styles, learn about resistance training, and start sharing the concepts I learned with the internet and my students.
